"Mentally, samadhi is said to consist of 'pure' consciousness, that is, consciousness without object or content other than consciousness itself.  Thus turned upon itself, pure consciousness penetrates into the Real Self, the atma, which is behind and beyond the sentient ego.  The ego is a transient phenomenon, the atma is unalterable, transcending the phenomenal world, part and parcel of Brahma, the Universal Spirit, which it contains and in which it is contained... From the emotional point of view, samadhi is a state of bliss, its onset signalled by a shapeless radiance which blots out everything else.

Samadhi may last a few minutes, hours or days.  But there is also 'final samadhi' into which a holy man enters at will; it entails death of the body and of the body-bound ego, whereas the Real Self, liberated from the wheel of rebirth, remains permanently united with the universal spirit. Except in final samadhi, the mind returns each time into the sentient ego, without retaining any positive memory of the Union which it has experienced."

"We see that each human being...participates in an inseparable way in society and in the planet as a whole.  What may be suggested further is that such participation goes on to a greater collective mind, and perhaps ultimately to some yet more comprehensive mind in principle capable of going indefinitely beyond even the human species as a whole.  (This may be compared to some of Jung's...notions)." --David Bohm

"Just as the elementary particle unfolds out of the quantum field, the soliton appears in the nonlinear field, and the vortex emerges from the river, so may an individual consciousness emerge out of the complex background order of consciousness that extends into the whole universe. The individual mind is therefore a sort of localization or concentration of consciousness that unfolds into the brain and body of the individual. But as the electron will fold into other elementary particles and back into its ground of the quantum field, and just as the vortex has no absolute independence from the ripples and vortexes of the river, so too an individual mind cannot be separated, in any absolute way, from the consciousness of society as a whole. In this way the individual mind unfolds out of the consciousness of all humanity and then folds back again, in a continuous process." --F. David Peat

"As a child, I understood how to give; I have forgotten that grace since I became civilized. I lived the natural life, whereas now I live the artificial. Any pretty pebble was valuable to me then, every growing tree an object of reverence. Now I worship with the white man before a painted landscape whose value is estimated in dollars! Thus the Indian is reconstructed, as the natural rocks are ground to powder and made into artificial blocks that may be built into the walls of modern society."  --Charles Alexander Eastman (Ohiyesa), Santee Sioux

"We are all alone, born alone, die alone, and -- in spite of True Romance magazines -- we shall all someday look back on our lives and see that, in spite of our company, we were alone the whole way. I do not say lonely -- at least, not all the time -- but essentially, and finally, alone. This is what makes your self-respect so important, and I don't see how you can respect yourself if you must look in the hearts and minds of others for your happiness." --Hunter S. Thompson

"The notion of a thing is thus seen to be an abstraction, in which it is conceptually separated from its infinite background and substructure. Actually, however, a thing does not and could not exist apart from the context from which it has thus been conceptually abstracted. And therefore the world is not made by putting together the various "things" in it, but, rather, these things are only approximately what we find on analysis in certain contexts and under suitable conditions."  --David Bohm

That's a mighty fine assumption.  How can you demonstrate it to be true?

That's a pointless rebuttal.  The affirmative claim would be humans can only test hypotheses about their own universe.  Support it.

Yeah blank, I just always hear this stuff about how we can never know anything outside of our universe and I'm thinking, "Wait a minute.  How do you know that?"

Is all.

How do you know the multiverse doesn't affect our universe?  The LHC experiments so far are inconclusive about this.  We don't know one way or another.  So how do you know?

Gotcha?  You think you know what you're talking about, but I assure you -- you don't.

"Only human beings have come to a point where they no longer know why they exist. They don't use their brains and they have forgotten the secret knowledge of their bodies, their senses, or their dreams. They don't use the knowledge the spirit has put into every one of them; they are not even aware of this, and so they stumble along blindly on the road to nowhere -- a paved highway which they themselves bulldoze and make smooth so that they can get faster to the big empty hole which they'll find at the end, waiting to swallow them up. It's a quick comfortable superhighway, but I know where it leads to. I've seen it. I've been there in my vision and it makes me shudder to think about it." --Lakota shaman Lame Deer

"The same elements compose my mind and the world. This situation is the same for every mind and its world, in spite of the unfathomable abundance of cross-references between them. The world is given to me only once, not one existing and one perceived. Subject and object are only one."

"Nature has no reverence towards life. Nature treats life as though it were the most valueless thing in the world.... Nature does not act by purposes."

"Our mind, by virtue of a certain finite, limited capability, is by no means capable of putting a question to Nature that permits a continuous series of answers. The observations, the individual results of measurements, are the answers of Nature to our discontinuous questioning."

No, I think he is saying the concept of nothing, or nothingness, is a convention of language and is bounded by beings existing in time, which he implies is not absolute.  Therefore, if nothing cannot exist, then as I said, eternal life should be a possibility.  No need to agree or disagree; but I do think this is what he meant.
