I dunno, I guess the thread just sorta evolved into this.

Thus, I am nonchalant about my failures, yet somehow disappointed in myself.
I think there's a lot of insight in this post that you could take a closer look at, and use it in your advantage.
Indulging yourself into thinking that everything is fake, even though it might feel comforting and protective to you, can lead to serious perception problems which will negatively reflect on your day to day life, and take over your subconscious - if you're letting this kind of thinking to become a habit. I think it all comes down to really thinking about what you want to be and experience, and direct your thoughts and attitude in that direction. Think about your ideologies and how they serve you in getting what you want from life. Are they constructive or even rational? Maybe they are just a reflex of your previous experiences, and it's something that you'll have to work on, replacing all the destructive patterns with new ones that work better for you.

Next time you drive around in your car, imagine this:
Quote:
It is all just a game. You are but a larger example of a lab mouse in a maze. We are, in a sense, living in a cage built by our superiors. We ride around in our fancy toys on our super-evolved 'exercise wheels'. These roads were paved. These building were erected. These houses were built. Everything is a figment of our imagination. The trees you drive by so ignorantly were planted there to deceive you. They are just there for decoration. Fashion, media, education, food, etc. are all hand fed to us by our masters; SuperAdvancedFormula2000TM (full of nutritious components for your new pet human!).

Imagine that.
Whatever. What can I, merely a lone human being, do?
I guess I'll play along with this game called Life.

This is the idea behind the Matrix movie. As far as it goes in human culture I think we feel this way because we still have the emotional nature and body built for life in the jungles and plains. There is a part of us that still needs to live as an animal and this "modern" way seems confining, emotionally and physically. Much of this we may feel on the subconscious level. We basically are being asked to behave like a domestic caged animal. That's why we are often likened to sheep. We are still adjusting.
