Where is pereskiopsis vascular ring?
    #10245800 - 04/27/09 09:20 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

Is it the ring between the dark green and light green parts?
I grafted lophophora seedling. And probably it is not touching the ring if so.
Also it has brown spot. mabe its too humid in the humidity propagator.

it's in the middle, the vascular tissue surrounds the core.

I looked for it, and couldnt see it. It is probably, not very visible then.
Is there a way to know, after five days, if the graft is successful?
Should I remove the graft from the humidity propagator, because of the brown spot?

oh yeah, it's small, you have to trust to luck a bit with pereskiopsis grafts as both stock and scion are very small diameter and the vascular ring is not always apparent.

just offset the scion slightly from centre and hope for the best

5 days should be long enough to notice the scion swelling, when it is nice and plump that is the sign that the graft is successful.

how high is the humidity? it shouldn't be too high as you need some airflow to help the cuts heal.

I think it is at least 90% humidity, because I added perlite in a zip lock.
But I think the cuts healed.
I don't think it's more swelling then it was but mabe my eye is not experinced.

90%+ is too high, lower it.
you need to find a balance between higher than the ambient RH and good airflow. IME 70%-80% is more than enough to do the job.
the reason you are getting infection is that you are not allowing any airflow.

Yeah, mine do great between 30 and 60 percent, depending on what stock I use (opuntia molds quickly)

Also, if its been five days, then I think the graft has taken. Mine tend to shrivel after the first day if they fail, so you should be noticing growth soon
