I wasn't implying a comparison. I don't have much to compare with: this is the only generation I've experienced.
I just want to know why gay people are the new blacks.

I think its rooted in society beginning to come to terms with the fact that something that has been so pointlessly taboo is actually perfectly fine and acceptable. Its coming to the surface so it can be transcended, so to speak.

I guess it's like a trend, then, in a way: once it's run its course, it won't be hip to use the phrase anymore. People can be so strange.
I wonder what the mouth breathers will latch on to next. Academics? Wait ...

Cause some people got their roll on and did a homo thing, and now they're mad they did.

What I was getting at with my question is that homophobia has existed throughout the history of our culture, and is considerably less common today than it used to be. "Homophobia" is a modern term, because the idea that homosexuals are evil perverts used to be taken for granted to be true. Sodomy used to be a felony in all 50 states. It wasn't until the Stonewall riots in 1969 that that started to change, and it's only within the last decade that the Supreme Court finally ruled sodomy laws to be unconstitutional. The fact that we've gone from that a few years ago to having gay marriage now legalized in four states is nothing short of remarkable. Gays are "the new blacks" precisely because they have made progress. It was never illegal in this country to be black.

Nobody has to like you because of your sexual preference, and forcing people to respect you is authoritarian. Homosexuality is an easy target but people also have no problem laughing at fat kids or making fun of retards either so cut it with the bullshit like there is some kind of fear involved in this, people are cruel and will find any weak link in your armor to get to you and that's the bottom line

Sure, but everyone knows it's not right to make fun of retards or to laugh at fat kids. Somehow it's more acceptable to tell gay people that they're "unnatural" and shouldn't be allowed to marry.

where do you get that idea from? Not everyone has a conscience and there is no such thing as a universal moral standard and if there were not everyone would agree with it anyways.

Hardly, go back to the 50s.
I also wonder why all this sexual fear. I've never been able to answer it.

No, there's no universal moral standard, but there's a moral standard generated by the society you live in. Our moral standard has improved a lot over the last 50 years with respect to racism or making fun of retarded kids, but it seems to be lagging behind when it comes to gay people.

Rly? On the other hand, evolution wishes only the best to reproduce, which is why some people think that gay is an evolutionary tool to weed out the gene pool.

What's you're point? I've never met any homophobics, but I've certainly been exposed to much "homophobia"-phobia.
