is the drying process necessary??
    #1022932 - 11/05/02 12:50 AM (21 years, 5 months ago)

im new to shrooms, but it would seem that eating shrooms wet would be more potent. the only thing that i see as a problem is mold growing due to the wetness. please correct me if im wrong...aslo, typically how much weight is lost when shrooms are dried (i.e. 50%?) thanks for the info. peace

Yes, if you can eat them fresh do, but mushrooms (of any variety) do not last long, they'll start rotting immediately if not dried.
They lose 90% of their weight when dried.

Based on personal experince, I wouldn't keep fresh shrooms around any longer than 3-4 days without some form of vaccum-sealing. Otherwise, dry them.

Good question, is there any noticeable difference between fresh and recently dried? I'd assume not, but just curious.

Fresh shrooms degrade potency much faster then dry ones.

Start drying immediatly after picking unless you are gonna eat them that day. Fresh mushrooms will start to rot quick.
