Just from that photo it's probably a Lepiota or Amanita. We need to see the underside of the cap and the base of the stem to get a better ID, and there would probably be more questions, too. Please note that both of those genera contain mushrooms which are deadly if eaten, so do not eat that mushroom!

Happy mushrooming!

Yes, but only for Amanita muscaria, right?

There are over 30 Amanita species.

Making ID from a good description is fun.
In this case we will never know what was it. It's like coitus interruptus.

I'm allmost 100% sure that's a death cap. There are three species named this way, Amanita bisporigera, Amanita virosa and Amanita verna, one single specimem can be deadly.
Some say it might be a Lepiota, well a good way to know, is to see if the mushroom has a volva at the base of the stem, if it has then it's an Amanita, if it hasn't then probably is a Lepiota.
Amanita bisporigera,

Amanita virosa,

Right. So, next time try to describe more acuratlly what we don't see in the pic, you'll be helping yourself. Besides, a volva is something that anybody who hunts Amanitas is familiar with :smirk:.
Keep improving...
