My new fitness routine

Followed some links from someone in the pub to various sites and a few threads here and decided to get into shape again.
So far ive been doing this routine each day: 30-50 pushups 15 pushups on my fingertips 75-100+ situps 100+ squats 100+ calfers (stand straight and raise onto your tiptoes and back down) 20+ curls on each arm with 12.5lb weights
and every couple of days ill jog or ride my bike for continued endurance.
been eating healthy, mostly fruit and veggies: bananas, strawberries, whole grains(5-8 kinds), peanut butter, kale, avocados, broccoli, edamames, dried seaweed, asparagus, brussel sprouts, mushrooms, beans (many varieties but mostly black and garbanzo), rice (both brown and wild), potatoes (mostly yukon gold)
thats like my usual diet, I eat most of those things everyday regardless of what else I eat, and I dont eat candy, soda, or junk food of any kind, try not to eat preservatives, conditioners, shit I cant pronounce etc
I also drink nearly a gallon of water everyday, and 2 cups of green or jasmine tea per day.
anything u guys can think of besides animal products that I might be able to add to my diet? I already include most veggies, just looking for any power foods.
and Like I said! no animal products, meat, eggs, milk, cheese, all out of the picture! those kinds of protein do not build lasting muscle, just temporary strength.
I plan on keeping up this routine for a long time, maybe even slowly increasing the numbers of pushups etc, and possibly picking up some sublingual(under the tongue) B12 supplements, as most people (even meat eaters) are B12 deficient!
comments? food suggestions?

Hemp seeds are great on salad, or with oatmeal, or in baking....
Also recommend Quinoa as a rice replacement.
Your diet sounds great though.

I already eat both of those, but theres no stores (not even healthfood ones) that sell hemp-seed here, so ive been having to order it online from canada which is costly to say the least, I can go through 25$ of hemp seed in a few days at the rate of protein my body needs to keep up.
Quinoa is included in the 5-8 grains I eat daily, including millet! I Rarely eat wheat.
Plenty of veggies, beans, rice, and grains keep me going through.
I'm also a fan of seeds and nuts, I eat plenty of those as well.
Theres a book labeled "Diet for a small planet" they talk about combining different proteins in seeds, nuts, legumes, etc to create amino combinations that in-turn put out 5times+ what they would if you ate them alone. I should also add I use Braggs Liquid Aminos in most of my cooked food and salad dressings.
We as americans eat way too much protein as it is! We eat and eat and eat and dont do anything to burn it off, and your body pulls calcium to help process it, at some point and with lack of calcium our body starts drawing it from our bones, which is probably a leading cause of osteoporosis. I just feel a lack of protein still, because of my excersize regimen, I guess ill just put another order in for some hemp seed, im just running low on cash and everytime I do this it hits home pretty hard compared to buying 25$ worth of broccoli or something.
and im not about to OD on soy protein, I dont feel like it helps me much and its not really that good for you on other sides of the health spectrum.

I hear you on the Hemp seeds - i spend about $30 a month on them, if i ration + i am from Canada.
I've been considering finding a bulk supplier.
I will be interested in any reponses anyone else posts here, it sounds like you have your dietary needs very dialed as it is.
How long have you been on this routine?

im already noticing a major change in mental and physical strength.
the food though? few months since quitting animal products, been weaning off junkfood for years though finally made the leap, also noticing a major change in mood, outlook, inner strength, physical strength, and overall look of my body, I look earthy these days...
thanks for commenting on my routine I hope other people do what im doing, I am much happier these days.

Wow that's quite a routine.
I can't help but ask, why do such a large daily volume? How long does it take to do all that?
Why not increase the resistance, by adding weight, doing incline or one-arm pushups?
A few sets of heavy squats could stimulate virtually all of those muscles better than marathons of lighter weights.
I mean, I guess you probably burn a ton of calories with all that volume. I'm just curious why you're doing it this way.

well for one, Ill do my 100 reps either 20 or 25 at a time, throughout the day, stretching 10minutes before each set. ill be increasing the amount per rep, and be doing more on average later on in my routine. ive also incorporated meditation into my routine, each time before reps, to mentally prepare me and concentrate strongly on the muscles I want to work in particular I find the muscle I want to work, massage it and feel it all over, figure out how to stretch it on my own, then do workouts that work those muscles
and I find weight to be troublesome, I move alot, and usually only take what fits in my car and nothing else, I dont have room for a weight bench or tons of weight stuff, I have some 12.5lb hand bells that are from a pro set, I only need to keep one of them though as I can switch off between arms when doing curls. I only need the weight for curls though, I do everything else using my own body weight, but how do you curl your own weight? I dont have a pulley system either and dont want to carry one with me.
I can do these exercise's anywhere at any time. I just need a place to do pullups! tree branches have been good but when you live in a pine forest they are 60ft in the air! ill incorporate these into my routine later as well.
also, I did weight lifting in high school, and some in college, and ate lots of meat products, I got bulky to say the least, but the muscle didnt last to be honest, and it wasnt an endurance type of strength, I was still worn out pretty fast after some reps, and worn out for DAYS, and I lost most of my bulk after even a week of stopping to catch up with homework etc.
I later tried less weight, slower reps, and more of them, and in combination with eating plenty of vegetable/nut/seed proteins and aminos. I was less bulky, but could lift the same weight as back in college if I wanted to, and months after stopping I still had nearly the same strength, given I didnt LOOK as toned on the outside.
meat products and heavy lifting only makes you LOOK bigger, and yeah u can temporarily lift more weight, if I was bulking up for a big battle and had a small amount of time to do so I would definitely use that routine. gets you LOOKING big, real quick!
I could curl 50lbs back then, but only if I did the reps quickly, I got shakey and uneasy with the weight when I did it slowly, like my muscle was giving out.
but ive found through personal experience that slower reps, less weight (or just your bodies own weight), and plenty of natural amino combinations, produced muscle that lasted longer, had more endurance (I dont get worn out after doing a few reps now and then throughout the day), and was equal to what I achieved other ways, without really bulking up and adding tons of weight, and again I was still that strong 3-4 months after stopping. You also get your muscle more conditioned doing slow reps, I feel like it fills in gaps that doing quicker reps "miss", not sure I know how to explain it properly. My muscles are more solid and fluid in their actions, which is important when lifting heavy things because one uneasy muscle and shift of weight could hurt you.
so in short, my new method is: building stronger muscles I already have compared to just bulking up on more of the weaker ones
and im seriously noticing a difference compared to weight lifting with some monsterous guys, sure I cant lift 300lbs, but one day I will be able to, and probably with more endurance than guys who get to that point in a few months, it will just take me longer, which is fine with me.
