Blue substrate no knots?
    #1021827 - 11/04/02 07:21 PM (15 years, 9 months ago)

I've beentrying to induce pinning on some of my cakes for almost two weeks now. They are still in the jars and I was hoping to induce pinning before removing them, but maybe I should just take themout of the incubator and dunk them and put them in the terarrium.
On one of the jars a light blue area showed up, it doesnt seem to be spreading, getting darker or going away, is thisjusta bruise?
Also there are little yellow spots on the some of the cakes, is the substrate mixture just too moist? or could it be bacterial infection, either way, could these yellow spots be fatal to the cakes?
There are some things that seem to be hyphal knots but there arent many,

THANK YOU

You are going to need to be a little more descriptive about your yellow dots.

the yellow spots are odd shaped and some are about the size of an ant, others are smaller, there are lots of them

hyphal (sic) knots perhaps - that is a good sign that you should birth the cakes asap

If the dark area is not growing, then it is probably just a bruise. Hyphal knots will look white, not yellow. If the yellow spots are not spreading as if a growing mold or bacteria, then they are probably just from excess moisture. I say just go ahead and birth them.
