the mysterious
    #1021545 - 11/04/02 05:23 PM (14 years, 1 month ago)

In our eternal search for Mastery of ourselves and our journeys, we are often delayed and deceived by that part of us which insists on rationality, that part of us which finds it necessary to quantify and limit what is infinite and immeasurable. To Master ourselves beyond what would limit us opens our possibilities to what has no boundaries, that of the One.

To transcend the Abyss of thoughts; this is mastery. If you do not have a mastery of your mind, you cannot know the mystery of existence. Mystery is the only "absolute" truth.

"The most beautiful experience is to meet the mysterious. This is the source of all true art and scholarly pursuit. He, who has never had this experience, is not capable of rapture and cannot stand motionless with amazement, is as good as dead. His eyes are closed." -Albert Einstein

"we are often delayed and deceived by that part of us which insists on rationality, that part of us which finds it necessary to quantify and limit what is infinite and immeasurable."

I wouldnt speak as if our rationallity and the part of us which finds it necessary to quantify and limit are the same part. It could be misleading. Although, they often go hand in hand.

In some ways I agree, but rational thinking and appreciation for the beauty and perfection of nature are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Einstein, although quite spiritual, was practically this century's poster child for rationality and scientific objectivity. He sought a deeper understanding of the universe through mathematics which to him was even more profound than the surficial "oohs" and "aahs" a cursory look will ellicit. If you even begun to understand the vast complexity of what you're observing, you're aesthetic appreciation for it is multiplied exponentially. For example: chaos. At first glance its not particularly interesting at all, its just randomness. But if you analyze it mathematically, you see a whole universe of complexity there, which is incredibly beautiful. So: appreciation = impression ^ understanding

"Brahman is the only Reality, ever-pure, ever-illumined, ever-free, beyond the limits of time, space, and causation. Though apparently divided by names and forms through the inscrutable agency of Maya (illusion), that enchantress which makes the impossible possible, Brahman is really one and undivided. When a seeker is merged in the beautitude of Samadhi, he does not perceive time and space or name and form - the production of Maya. Whatever is within the domain of Maya is unreal; give it up. Dive deep in the search for Self and be firmly established in It through Samadhi. You will then find the world of name and form vanishing into nothing, and this puny ego merging into cosmic consciousness."

Just be sure that you don't interpret that quote as metaphysical.
Seriously.
