My first computer was in high school 1975. A series 360 IBM, I think...all input was in the form of IBM paper cards, and you had to remove hinged wiring panels and reroute jumper wires from sector to sector for different operations. This machine was about 3 1/2 feet tall and at least five feet long. This was used to compute attendance and other stats.

Fuck tiger direct and their lying customer service representatives. They send me broken shit, say their reshipping and nothing is done so now I'm stuck with a broken laptop for at least the next week, and I'm stuck waiting for my money back for even longer. So much for trying to buy a nice B-day present

Me too. In my kindergarten class we had "computer day" (which I think was once per week). The computer was on a large wheeled desk since the school only had one.
I also remember using "Macpaint" and printing the pictures on a horrendously loud, screeching ribbon printer in the early 80's.
I had a friend and we used a commodore at his house, but that was around the release of the Atari 2600, and later the original Nintendo, so for 4-5 years I didn't use a computer very much.
After my first year of college I got my first computer. I was like 19-20. Saved all my money for a $2,000 400 mhZ system with below 100 MB of RAM and like 6GB hard drive.
