Honey water with a tissue sample
    #1020000 - 11/04/02 04:30 AM (14 years, 3 months ago)

Would it be possible to innoculate honey water with a tissue sample? In anyway?

Shit, once I had myc crop out all over on top a great big fat moist cap, I was printing. Certainly, a tissue sample will grow myc in a liquid nutrient solution.

yes this is very easy and has great success, i managed to sustain a large and (i mean large) healthy mycelium culture from a single, liberty cap.

the great thing was, it was just a scrawny cap i found in stuck to the side of a baggy, found that using a very weak honey solution gives the fastest growth rate, and by making a series of different solutions, u can make many healthy cultures.

will write up my methods for making solutions in the grow report as there are allready betta teks out there.

tell us how it goes son

How exactly would you go about doign this? Wouldn't the mushroom's tissue rot? If it does or doesn't how long can you actually keep the liquid with the myc. growing in it due to the tissue that may be rotting?

Thank you all for your support and replys. Now i am wondering this.... If you can use a tissue sample to start some mycelium water, how can someone fall to contams? I mean couldnt you put some tissue in honey water and inject a little h202 into it and it be almost fool-proof? lol sorry for sounding dumb, or whatever you wanna label it, but i am seeing the light here. And what a glorious light it is.

i just placed a straight (rotting) liberty cap top (cap) in a small bottle, previously sterilized and filled with distilled water and honey mix (10prts water 1prt honey) and kept at ~30c , by slicing parts of active mycelium, most dense areas i have colonized various bottles, which seem to have varying growth rates.

i shall be transfering the fastest growing mycelium to a larger culture bottlle to await inoculating of desired substrate.

so far no sign of contams at all, and im a messy bloke that dont care that much if experients dont work out, they can allways be done again.

oh and i still have the original honey / liberty cap preperation, (after 2 weeks) and the cap is still in there producing mycelium, no signs of the rotting continueing, allmost like its in suspended animation, cept for the phat as mycelium fluff comming off it LOL

hope this helps, pm me if ya wanna know more bout what im doing.

Every time before a spawning take some colonized grain and put it in a honey water jar.As long as you put h2o2 in before it will work. Each grain will look like a puff ball.Tighten the lid and shake it up real good. After it sits you will see the mycelium has broken off the grain.Use right away.If you want to grow more mycelium in the liquid add more h2o2.Do not shake any h2o2,it makes it unstable.

scrap h2o2 off that list.
It`s not necessary to constantly add h2o2.
If anything as I said, rather add a bit of peroxide.

H202 is Hydogen peroxide. Or am I completely misunderstanding your point?

Sorry, misunderstanding.
I meant, exclude bleach from that equation.
Naturally you`re not using bleach so stick to the h2o2 LOL

Lol I was wondering what all this scrap h202 talk was about. Well guys and gals (if there are any gals on this post) Thank you all very very much. This post has opened up my eyes to a whole new world of opportunity. I dont really have the money for agar and all that, so if i can clone this way that is great. I've gotten some monster mushies in the past, and to think that i may be able to clone them, cheaply and easily gives me a new found hope. Cant wait till i have huge tc's on poo. Thanks, and good luck people.
