The Present and Future of Evolution
    #1018962 - 11/03/02 04:08 PM (21 years, 4 months ago)

We are an anthill in the backyard of the universe. this world is young and allready we feel we are so advanced. Evolution. Evolution is expaning the mind. What if out there something is so evolved it doesnt even need to contain its mind. Slowly we are using less and less of our bodies as it is. Minds could become infinte. These thoughts would become a collevtive, one moving simple body of pure energy. Power. They wouldnt need cities or even emotion. Their power could be so great that we could never fathom its possibilities. WE think of power and energy as building a bridge, imagine what it could produce. None of our emotions could even describe its force. If there is no way to tell what it is or does, who is to say this power is not around us. What is it that creats new life? that makes planets form? what produces the unexplainable? if enough people belive in this force, who is to say it is not God?

that's for sure, this would account for the high number of obese people in north america. I tell you, i came to canada from europe and there is way more fat people here.

p.s. did you know that McDonald's has the second most real estate in the world?

I think we could eventually begin to blend science with spirituality. I mean like charting hyperspace or realizing the scientific properties of the soul and all that stuff. That would be cool.

Medicine and technology could make us just about immortal. I think the more time you had, the more you could have time to develop spiritually and mentally. Mans life span is growing fast over the centuries. Evolution is inevitable!

nice idea. as far as i can see, this is not going to happen anytime soon because we have governments trying to organise and control every aspect of our lives. the majority need to be free and think for themselves before any major changes in this area will happen.

i also believe that television is inhibiting our natural/spiritual growth. populations which rely on television as a stimuli are only going to stay put, tv is dumbing down everyones ideas and restricting our natural/free thought processes.

i can not imagine how we will evolve, or how we are.
is creating robots and intelligent machines part of our evolution? or even a blending of human/machine?
i can't help but think that the human race is going in the wrong direction with genetics and robotics. but then, the people and organisations that are looking into this are not looking into it as evolution, more in terms of how much profit can be made at the end of the day.

I agree with most of what you said there. Yes, It will take time (I didn't say it wouldn't).

Genetics can sustain life. Robots can kill people.

Altering/choosing our genetics might be able to sustain/enhance life but i dont see this as a normal or acceptable practice. Though this is only my moral standpoint, you will have your own.

Does anyone see the whole genetics/cloning area as human evolution?
i'd like to know whether people see it as 'the next step'

i myself cannot see how it is right for people to be able to choose their childs eye/hair colour etc.
i would not like to be a child born like this and knowing that 'he is not who he was meant to be' kind of thing. i can imagine it putting a huge strain and pressure on the child to be his parents ideal and to fulfill their selfish desires.

on a side note as well, the Church of England is the biggest land owner in the the UK as well. i've always seen the church as very hypocritical for this as well.

but, back to the topic.

I'm talking about cloning organs and such, not custom-made babies.

yeah i dont agree with the gattaca concept of human advancement, and besides humans are stupid right now they wont get past the stages of human developement to obtain such bio technology and robotic technology. i mean look at the world we havent done anything great i mean shit people are still serving food and selling clothes . and i dont think tv is what really the main problem is i mean that fact that people rely on such things to escape from and blame on tv thats laziness, not saying your lazy but the truth is that those people who just let problems float out about them dont change anything. i think humans make their own evolution, and this right here as were talking now to one another this here and now awakeness is the next step for humans anything less will be devolution, its right there in the television and the people sitting out or copping out in on and around it. people have to start believing they make a fucking difference  . you cant fuck with nature, it will fuck with you. so the best thing to do is try to get along with it and see it for what it is and be what you are for you are a product of nature ,natures existence, you are an emobidment of the divine seamless whole , treat yourself right treat others right and stay within balance and i think we can advance, but people today are lost in games trying to escape with what they cant deal with. if humans gave a shit about anything it would have been done already, but obviously as we see the masses dont give a shit about anything. we have choice you choose to think and type what you do so why cant you make a difference? i thought one time, do they have a major for something like art and science ?and then my gf said but isnt that what nature is? and i thought yeah it is actually  . so how is the fusion of science and spirituality not there? look at the tao, then look at nature, then look back again at the two. yin and yang and the middle path. the tree of life. dharma ruling karma. its all there you just have to "grab it".

I've say we have already influenced nature a great deal. Things like computers were once thought to be impossible, and electricity was magick. Although mankind has done a lot of stupid things, and even acted againt the few amount of intelligent, people there are some intelligent people out there.

At the end of the day we are nature. We can't "get along" with nature becasue we are a part of it. For too long we have had this belief that we are outsiders looking in on nature. I dont believe that to be the case at all. As for genetic engineering, I see it as DNA finding a quicker and more effective way of changing itself. We are the product of DNA which has evolved over countless millenia. Now DNA is using us to evolve. We are all small parts of the bigger picutre.
