No seaweeds are toxic, but some are better to eat than others.
You should try making seaweed salad, I bet that would be good with some fresh seaweed.

I am getting some raw kelp noodles soon which I will be trying. I hear that when soaked and prepared they have a texture exactly like wheat noodles.
Usually when I get a noodle craving I shred some zucchini but I'm curious to see how my body handles seaweed when it's never really had any. I think it'll probably just be a one time thing but I'll report back on how they are.

I have dried dulse which I find is nice to add a salty mineral kick to salad or other things. I just chop up some dulse and throw it into anything that would take salt, great way to get iodine and other sea minerals.

I hope the kelp isn't too salty/fishy tasting. I don't eat salt.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the Japanese have the longest life expectancy because of their high seaweed diet.

to be honest i don't feel any different. i eat pretty healthy anyway so i feel good most of the time. but like the above poster said. the japanese eat lots of seaweed and they have a lot of OLD people that swear by it. i also eat a lot of raw cacao nibs, goji berries, really raw honey, and lots of fresh fruits and veggies. naturalzing.com FTW!!!

I have read that small amounts of sea salt are good for trace minerals. Seaweed as well, and it makes its own goodies for us too. As well sodium makes up the volume of the water in the body. It is a very important electrolyte and if you are eating lots of potassium, like in your case moth, I would look into a little salt. I find drinking a little salty water with bananas after hot yoga really helps me replenish electrolytes with more balance. Its good to get your sodium from greens and seaweed, but putting a pinch of salt in a large fruit smoothie helps even out the electrolytes. Also salt is a flavor enhancer at the right level, so it makes fruit even better, if that is possible (And it is! I am coming down off mescaline and fruit is so fucking amazing).

if you do get some salt, moth, look into getting some celtic sea salt. you can get a 5lb bag for less than 20 bucks and that will last you for yrs. even a lot of commercial sea salts have been stripped of some of their minerals. celtic sea salt comes straight from the earth and into the bag. it's actually all harvested by hand and left in the sun to dry. shit is delicious. No, I don't do rock salt. My body reacts VERY badly to it. I get my sodium from plant sources. Cantaloupe and honeydew in particular are high in sodium.

Not just that... but I'm sure it would contribute. Seaweed has a lot of good stuff in it. But the life style, the green tea, etc.
North America is a stressed out, piece of shit continent for the most part. I love Canada, but our hands aren't clean either, I must confide. One day, I would love to move to Japan.

There is always a good chance that water by the shore is extremely polluted (even if it looks great). I definitely wouldn't eat wild seaweed.

I tried kelp noodles (raw, from Sea Tangle) for the first time last night, soaked in a tomato-celery sauce.
After soaked for five minutes, the noodles took on a consistency of cooked noodles. I was weirded out. There was no fishy taste at all. No taste at all.
So yeah, great for people who need a noodle replacement. I don't, since I don't crave noodles, so I won't be getting them again.
