Wait, if it's in a jar, how can you see the top? Do you mean the top of the jar or the bottom of the jar?

You can, but most likely it won't work. Contams have a funny way about them, once you see them, its usually too late. Is the yellow on the mycelium, or on the uncolonized substrate?

Does it look like yellow gooo? If so, its either a sign of too much water in the substrate or a bacterial infection (I think). I've had jars with yellow goo and they fruited alright. BUT... I could be wrong, so hopefully if I am, someone will correct me and make me look dumb.

Ouch, if it was my jar, I would throw it in the outdoor patch or in the trash. Like I said, once you can see a contam, usually its too late, which translates into, once your shit is contaminated, its too late. Oh well, good luck.

but in the contam forum someone said that cobweb can spread and colonize a whole jar in a week or something....this yellow spot has been the same small size for over a week....

Well why didn't you say that before, or maybe you did and I just can't read. Anyways, I would seperate it from the rest of my jars and see what happens. Worse case, you throw out a jar. Just have patients little one, for soon you will have more jars than you wish to care for.

Yes my friend you can! my first grow was puerto ricans via PF tek, i lost several jars to contams, but on two of them i preformed oven tek "open jar" surgery. I placed these two in a seperate place and they fruited normaly. Just make sure you get all the contaminated portion and you should be all set.

That yellow might be mycelium piss.....no big deal.

You can cut it off the cake with a sterile knife.....if you are worried.
