IMhO best place to start: in a few good books you save ALOT of wasted hours connecting to tons of threads only to pull a gem or 2 from each. But you do have more fun here. best place to follow up: here/mycotopia/forrest floor love the filing cabinet/heatpad combo. Where'd you come up w/that?

Touch it? Arouse suspision? It's not setting in a public library in Redneckville.
It's in a building a foaf owns. If an interuder could get over the security fence, past the armed security guard, break into the building, past the security system, without setting off the alarm, the 150 pound dog inside the building would be TOUCHING him, in a manner that would make him sorry he was born. 6T

Haha. LMAO!I guess this is kind of redneckville for a city. Great idea!!! & thx 4 the pix. You think a propagation mat or one of those neck/head warmer mats would be best?
A dorm fridge or some other small appliance(round HEPA?) could be placed on top as an alibi for those of us w/o Mission Improbable security. But still, it should never be somewhere someone could even see it.

There is a retired 640 acre fenced tract with an underground high security nuke multiple missile silo & warehouse size underground support bunkers in the midwest USA for sale. Not cheap, though.

Its not really hard to build a small underground lab. Get a few bigass tractor trailer batteries, and a power inverter in the middle of a bigass forest somewhere and use your imagination and start digging. I had a pretty nicd setup at one time but I eventually got tired of hauling batteries back and forth. If you have lots of money to spare you could get a solar cell to put up in a tree. =) That would be excellent

they will still get thermal readings form the ground wich will cause suspicion. That's why you drop a moble storage unit (the kind you see on tractor trailors and train cars) in the ground and put a moble home on it.

Last year the Supreme Court ruled that thermal scans are considered "searches" in and of themselves, and therefore require a warrant to do. If a person were otherwise doing nothing suspicious (digging a giant hole and lowering a bus into it excluded), they need not worry about thermal scans.
For going bulk, get a copy of The Mushroom Cultivator and follow the growth parameters for whatever species you are cultivating. You should be quite happy with the result.

Just as helpfull as a friend who enjoys our hobby but works full time for his father's company pouring concrete. Which costs less than $3yd(wholesale material cost on a foundation for a LARGE hone is about $2000) and If you already have the forms and dont mind some really BUST ASS work. I guess the only other thing you would need is some land. Then that sub-sub-basement you dream aboud could become the one you do you research in. Oh well, we all need something to work twords right?
Peace
