Stand-up comedians are writers, thinkers and performers. They record CDs. They write for movies and TV shows. They release books. They act. They philosophize and put it into words we can all laugh at. So I think it's a combination of different arts.
So I say we post our favorite YouTube videos and mp3s of our favorite comedians. I'll start by attaching a track from Todd Barry's "From Heaven" CD... a joke about food that should appeal to anyone on here who happens to have the munchies. It's called "Chipotle, Trader Joes."

i posted this in the Pub a few days back, thought it was pretty funny. standup comics can be great, but they can also be really really bad.
i think i have a rare sense of humor or something, i find myself being a pretty harsh critic when it comes to comedy in general.

I here ya there. Jeff Dunham got the most votes on Comedy Central's Stand-Up Showdown two years in a row now didn't he? And I honestly don't find him that funny. Even Dane Cook is funnier than him. But you know what's even funnier? Ike Barinholtz impersonating Dane Cook.

Ross Noble - A stream of conciousness and improvisational stand up. Not the improv where he asks the audience to give him ideas. He will see someone weird in the audience and talk to them, thus sparking a chain reaction of situations and bizarre psycho workings of his unfold. One of my all time faves.
He will go from pigs having sex with unicorns to a monkey having a love affair with Steven Hawking in nanoseconds.
Bill Bailey - Another english bloke who you may recognise from a few tv shows/movies. Highly intelligent and musically inclined. He has a synthesiser and numerous guitars on stage.
He pioneered the 'Scale of Evil'. Each piano key corresponds with an image of a famous dictator.
Bill Bur - Angry american-irish New Yorker who has worked on the Chappele Show.
He says that men get paid more an hour because if we're ever on a Titanic, women and children get to leave and for fucked up reasons, we have to die. Its a dollar an hour surcharge.
Demetri Martin - Simple and Hedburg-esque delivery of one liners that actually are super intelligent and a bizarre take on everything.
"I want to bury small metal objects in the sand at the beach that say 'Get a life' written on them"
"I bought pajamas with pockets in them which is great, because before I had to hold stuff while I slept"
