The fact that you said it did this much growth overnight makes me think contam. It does look a lil like early stages of trichoderma. At this stage of myc growth, the myc should be rhizomorphic, not cottony like that. Unless your working with B+, is your strain B+ ? Cause my B+ myc always looks fluffy/cottony. There is rhizomorphic growth with B+, but there's always like this fluffy growth around the rhizos so its hard to see and compare them with other cube rhizos.

Its Hawaiian strain

well, considering trich is green, i'm going with myc.  only other thing i'd check for is cobweb mold.  take a qtip with a bit of hydrogen peroxide on it and rub it on the white area.  if it disolves, it's cobweb mold.

Almost all bacteria starts out white.

There are two main contams, Bacterial, and mold. Two totally different things, and you can't visually SEE bacterial contams in most cases. Perhaps you could grow some bacteria out on Agar and see it, but thats not typically the case with spawn jars. Although, you can DEFIANTLY smell a bacterial contam. This is either mold or mushroom mycelium

:kingtard:

I cant really pin point what it smells like. It definatley has a smell but its hard to relate it to something. Plus with the wet perlite in the FC its difficult to tell what im smelling. I just dont know what to think of this since it did grow over night. I had put pictures up on a thread before of a cake with this white growth and people were telling me the mycelium can grow the the dry verm before it pins. i really cant tell until it either turns green or something else. And since these are my last 5 cakes  of the  previous 7 that got infected with green mold i guess ill let it do whatever and hope the best for fruits regardless if it is trich. Apparently green mold is harmless anyways.

Trich is harmless to humans, but you don't want it spreading all over your grow room.

It looks like healthy mushroom mycelium.

Bacterial contamination, unless excessive, isn't usually a problem after birthing/spawning and fruiting. You can definitely spot a bacterial contamination - the substrate will look slimy and the smell will be pretty unpleasant.

The q-tip test is bullshit, as well. P. Cubensis and other actives bruising (often mistaken as trich) will rub off like any other mold.
