Sydney Afternoon Scout
    #10162227 - 04/14/09 02:53 AM (14 years, 11 months ago)

Just went for a quick walk to a few patches with my camera this afternoon.

Looks like some young Macrolepiota Procera

Some larger ones located a few blocks away

And possibly a few young Chlorophyllum Rhacodes fruiting in the same area I found similar mushrooms about a fortnight ago

]

I recognised these fellas as the mushrooms I picked and posted up here two weeks ago.

Yup very similar to what i find as well..

The top ones are likely Macrolepiota clelandii, which is the local version of procera/rhacodes. The big white ones, not sure, but some kind of Chlorophyllum or Macroleptioa for sure.

Macrolepiota clelandii.
Do they grow on both woodchips and grass? I usually find lepiota types on woodchips.

Thanks for the reply and the corrections guys. The Macrolepiota clelandii was growing near very disturbed land.

Looks like Chlorophyllum molybdites, but might be another species.

C. molybdites will have a green spore print, while other Chlorophyllum species have white spores.

I'll go back to them in a few days and get more shots of them fully grown. That'll be insane.

If you get spore prints we may be able to ID them better.

You may also have two species.  The larger ones with the darker scales look more like C. molybdites than the smaller, shaggier ones.

Hey I came back to these guys about the same time you posted that CureCat.

Specimen on the right now resembles C. molybdites more than a Macrolepiota clelandii juvenile.
I would've brought them back for spore prints this afternoon had they not disappeared.
