I found a bunch of these today and I was wondering if anyone has tried them before? They are edible but I have never eaten any mushroom that has pores or tubes or whatever you call them.

I have yet to try, but they are clover shaped and I think I would have to cut into the stalk to take a print. I'm not going to eat them as I'm just learning to identify. Supposedly you can nick them with a knife to see if they stain blue, but again I'm not comfortable enough at this stage to totally trust my own judgement.

This post should probably be moved to the hunting forum. Its good to be cautious when eating wild mushrooms. By clover shaped do you mean they have an off center stem, The pores look rectangular to square, like it has shallow gills that are crosshatched. Was it growin under or by an ash tree?If it was an Ash tree bolete they aren't that good. They don't always bruise blue. If you go back to the same area in late winter, early spring you are likely to find some morels of some kind. However someone told me they are good dried, so nest year i'll try drying some.

Keep growing.

Falcon: okay, I'll bite....why do you think this thread needs to be moved to hunting? It's a discusion on a [technically] edible mushroom that's not psychoactive.
