I'm no hardcore electronic music expert, but I will say that of all the tracks you've posted so far, the 3 or 4 I've listened to at least, not one of them is even a fraction as much as interesting and musical as your average Aphex/RDJ track.  Almost all the rhythms are basic sequenced loops that don't really change or transition.  The melodic elements don't really go anywhere and are cliche.  It's rhythmically and musically boring compared to typical Aphex Twin.  Every moment of most Aphex tracks is changing and advancing a melodic or rhythmic theme.  Any step sequencing feels like it's is done as if by hand on an actual instrument.  And the voices are all totally unique.  That why RDJ's is popular.  Quality.

Sure you may know all about what spins well at parties for common denominator crowds.  That doesn't mean it's good music.  Not that you ever asserted that it was, I'm just sayin...

Aphex Twin may put out some clever music. But he isn't all that great at making dance music these days, and he seems to lack a certain quality you find outside of the "IDM" cliche.

Even among other artists on Warp, it seems like RDJ is milking his legacy while the other big hitters keep expanding their sound.

I like hardly any of the stuff in this thread.  Seems to me theres a reasons its so far underground...  Most of it is like a rediculous mash of sounds.  Repetative beats work for a reason - it puts you in a TRANCE.

I love most trance especially goatrance and all the non-mainstream drum and bass.  I grew up on that stuff.  I dont consider it cheesy at all.  Cheesy is the trance that gets played on sky music channels.

I'm open to hear new stuff but nothing here has remotely impressed me.  That first track you posted just sounds like any other dubstep track to me but then I don't listen to dub hardly ever.  Its the new in thing at the moment that everyones ranting about.
