You didn't mention pleurocystidia so I assume there were none.
I hadn't looked for pleurocystidia yet - If I looked and couldn't find any I would say "pleurocystidia not observed".
Here are some pics I took today of the pleurocystidia.

Spores (6.99) 7.2 - 8.6 (8.76) x (3.70) 3.9 - 4.6 (4.99), minutely ornamented, non-dextrinoid
6.99 x 3.89 7.17 x 3.70 7.27 x 4.06 7.34 x 3.89 7.39 x 4.10 7.42 x 4.33 7.50 x 4.28 7.62 x 4.07 7.66 x 4.27 7.69 x 4.14 7.71 x 4.57 7.72 x 4.34 7.79 x 4.17 7.79 x 4.50 7.79 x 4.99 8.04 x 4.09 8.26 x 4.31 8.59 x 4.58 8.76 x 4.50

I've give this a peek tomorrow. It's too late in the evening here for heavy taxonomic issues. There are only a few with non-dextrinoid spores so this shouldn't be very difficult.
Nice measurements.

Closest match so far, Gymnopilus amarissimus. If the spores you call non-dextrinoid have been stained, they look yellowish-brown to me. From that I would say we've found it. What do you think?

Alan can do two other tests and check the results. Stain the gills with KOH and Melzer's. It would be interesting to see if those chemical reactions match.

These Gyms remind me of my unknown Gym sp.
These have a similar cap surface to blazes' find.

One of the old rotted specimens in blaze's pics looks just like these.

Mr. Mushrooms,
Have you compared his finds' microscopic features with mine?

Alan is working on Johnny's and I'm still working on yours. The KOH solution I made today was for your mushrooms specifically. You can see how difficult it is to pin down a Gym. I have a feeling this one might not be a Gym at all. More work needs to be done when Alan gets a moment.

KOH turns the gills dark red and the pileus trama dark red. It turns the gill trama yellow. Melzers stains the pileus trama a light red.

Then this is either a newly discovered Gymnopilus or not a Gymnopilus at all. There are no other options.
What do you think?
