Scott's 3-In-1 & Experiement
    #1016177 - 11/02/02 03:56 PM (21 years, 10 months ago)

Here is what I did:

2 BRF Cakes Crumbled used as Spawn and placed in with
Scott's 3-In-1 Organic Compost/Verm mixed 50/50
I did not pasturize or sterilize... Just as KNURD said in his post
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum2&Number=824899&fpart=&PHPSESSID=
(I did this for 2 tins, this will be going into a regular fish tank terranium)

Pie Tin was done like this

Bottom - Plain Verm/Compost
above that Sliced Cake "Like you would slice a tomatoe"
Above that crubled cake mixed with verm/compost
Topped with a layer of Verm/Compost

Thin Layers..
---------------------------------------------------------

HERE IS THE NEW STUFF I AM TRYING TO DO.....

I am also trying a few new things...

I bought rubbermaid containers and they are about 12x9x5
I want test something out.

I got 3 of them and I am doing this..

#1 - 2 BRF Cake's crumbled Cased with 50/50+
#2 - 1 BRF Cake Crumbled and spawned with Verm/Scotts 3-In-1 (which will be cased with 50/50+)
#3 - 2 BRF Cakes's crumbled and spawned with Verm/Scotts 3-In-1

I am doing all of this because I met someone who bought one of those "Mushroom Kits from"
http://www.homesteadbook.com/ezgromushroomkit.html

I was shocked with the results he got. You really dont have to fan, mist, or really do anything.
I looked at the tuppaware thing and there were holes drilled in the plastic for air to exchange but that was about it. (You can see the picture on their website of what the tuppaware thing looks like)
http://www.homesteadbook.com/unjimages/ezgromushroom/ezgromushroomkitamin.gif

They use rye berries, have them spores drop onto thte rye in a bag, once colonized just mix with compost and BAM!!!
I am going to see if i can replicate what they do...

Any input anyone has please let me know, I am sure i left something out so just ask....

How is it that those ktis have such amazing success and they are neglected sooooooo much. I have seen it with ym own eyes..

MiNT

Good luck! I did not have any with unsterilized Scotts 3-1. Hopefully it was just me.
I did not care too much for the Scotts, I still got 8 bags I'll never use.
