weilii mycelium guestions
    #1015886 - 11/02/02 03:04 PM (14 years, 11 months ago)

Ok so as of last night my friend cased four quart jars of colonized rye grass seed and straw in a 3 to 1 ratio that were initially germinated on PDA. My friend is wondering the proper odors of weilii. He told me that when he opened the jars up and began breaking up the substrate inside that the smell was almost like oranges. He recalled that it was a rather beautiful smell and also after repeated exposure to the mycelium he experienced a strong body buzz and also trails and patterns of colors. The mycelium is very slightly rhizomorphic in some areas and very thick tomentos in other areas but it was very very white. It held the substrate together very strongly. Anyone know if this is normal for weilii. In thickness of the mycelium is in between mexicana mycelium and cubensis mycelium. 18 hours after casing the substrate 15% of the casing layer is colonized. Does this seem too fast for weilii?

Good bye.

When I was little I used to smell lipstick and think about the whales. Then I would always wonder if whales smelt like that.

if Weilii mycelium smells anything like mexicana mycelium I could see how someone might think it smelled like oranges. Not much, but a lot more than cubensis mycelium does anyway. Quite an acidic smell.....
