Myco Bags
    #1015789 - 11/02/02 02:30 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

I purchased a couple of myco bags back on 8/10/02 and inoculated them..left them in a dark closet until 90 percent ...then sat them in the office for some indirect light...finally today 11-2-02 i see little guys popping up...this was the B+ strain...i guess my home is too cool...
At any rate, i was wondering if it is safe to weigh and consume the substrate...it's sterile...it sounds nasty but its a big white block of mycelium- ?

What would be the point of eating the cake? Why not dunk it and wait for another flush after your 1st one? Also the cake has vermiculite, it's not exactly edible, and I heard it'll give you some stomach problems.

Mycellium contains very little if any active compounds. You would have to eat an awful lot of it to be worthwhile.

Thanks STS and D. These bags are supposed to expand from the gasses, but thats the other thing I've noticed.- neither bag has expanded at all..they are as flat as the day they were innoculated....there isn't much "free space" for the mushrooms to grow..they are kind of bumping into the bag.

I had that problem too, so I cut the bag off and put the cake in a terrarium.
