I've been looking into it recently and absolutely love it, anyone got any they can reccommend?

Bitches Brew obviously.
Weather Report is good
RH Factor is newer but real good.
Some of Christian Scott's shit is a different kind of fusion, but still good.
Joshua Redman (Elastic and Momentum) is much closer to just jazz but it's still awesome.
Mahavishnu Orchestra
Some of Michael Brecker's work
Chick Corea Elektric Band
Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters
Medeski Martin and Wood
John Abercrombie
John Scofield
Some of Nick Payton's work
Some of Chris Potter's work
Freddie Hubbard (closer to jazz)
Dave Weckl

miles davis - bitches brew ... the album that invented fusion
jewunit mentioned joshua redman, that guy is a monster on the sax, i don't care what style he's playin
spyro gyra is a good one
dave weckl and steve gadd are badass drummers

Return to Forever

Weather Report

Mahavishnu Orchestra

Those are kinda the big three in my opinion.

Of course it all basically started with Miles' fusion sessions, which are represented on:

In a Silent Way
Bitches Brew
Files de Kilimanjaro
Big Fun
Agharta
Tribute to Jack Johnson

Most of those releases have overlapping material or alternate takes of the some pieces.  The Miles fusion stuff was generally far spacier and more "avant garde" though then any of the music dubbed "fusion" that came after involving the musicians involved in those sessions.  The big three bands above are all Miles fusion alumni at the core, but their music really sounds very little like the Miles fusion.

There's plenty of other stuff but if you get into the three bands above you'll probably find your way to the rest.  A lot of the same musicians are involved at some point.

this is some of my favorite jazz/fusion. the cd's are kinda hard to come by, but if you can find em, get em. the first 2 brand x albums are "unorthodox behaviour" and "Moroccan roll". both are phenomenal.

brand x "disco suicide"

brand x "nuclear burn"

brand x "xanax taxi"

Right on, I picked up Moroccan Roll on vinyl a while back but never listened to it.  I figured it would be some cheesy prog rock and I never got around to it.  Crazy that that's Phil Collins on drums, I've never heard drumming quite like that out of him.  Not to say that his work in early Genesis isn't amazing, it's just his playing in Genesis is typically more understated.

Here's a seriously bad ass Herbie Hancock tune from his recording Sextant, the last album released with his Mwandishi group.

this is a very good list.

i'd recommend listening to miles davis' "on the corner" before "bitches brew"; it's a bit less weird and a bit more grooveable.

Mentioning them and fusion is beyond loose.
Branford has one fucking awesome fusion song on a Buckshot LeFonque album. Unfortunately the rest of the album is garbage.
