What is 'cool'?
    #10155177 - 04/12/09 11:01 PM (14 years, 11 months ago)

not in the weather sense. but do you think some people are 'cool'? or is that just ego centric made up thinking?

If cool is real, does it mean being a good person? standing up for what you believe in?

or maybe that is all materialistic ideology

super  blasted- wanna see your op inions on this :ganja:

well, i dont think it has anything to do with being egocentric because egocentrism is when you can only see yourself and not others.

"cool" is not real in the sense that you or I are real, it is a concept. Cool also doesn't have a single meaning

'Cool' definitely exists, and sophisticated marketing companies do exploit this use of primate popularity.  I'm not sure if any definitive analysis has been done on what explicitly demarcates cool from not cool, but social applications like Facebook or Myspace might be able to produce some comprehensive data.

Cool is popculture slang referring to something that may have any or all of these characteristics:

Witty
Original
Classy
Smart
Fashionable
Trendy

It is different things to different people.

Generally it is something someone young who is concerned with how other people perceive them, strive to be.

A cool person is basically a role model to others who think that person is cool.

Cool is simple. Act disinterested in everything, have slicked back hair, wear black jeans and cool shades and you are good to go.

Pretty much anything can be cool, not just people. I think some of those pictures in your signature are pretty cool...

Thanks for the welcome, it's good to be back. :mushroom2:

I think 'coolness' is being cool while not caring about being cool and not claiming to be cool.

Right; like basically everything, it's all relative.

“Strengthened by contemplation and study,
I will not fear my passions like a coward.
My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”
