I don't think you are descending into madness. You think you are because its actually slightly attractive to you.
What are your references to madness?
Is one of them...I'll take a stab in the dark...cinema perhaps? Literature?

If so, remember, that's usually a sane person's perception of madness. Your "descent into madness" is more like you ever so slightly wanting to be "mad". But its a wanting to be the caricature of madness.

Don't believe the myths about famous people either. They did great things because they were great. They couldn't keep it together, and "went mad". So, if you are going to go mad, you might as well do something great first, then make the choice...

Sorry if this is a boring and unsympathetic post, but I hope at least it helps.

I suppose it's not something I entirely feel comfortable about going into too much detail about (even anonymously).

You are really letting your situation, thoughts, surroundings and issues get the best of you and take control. Take a fucking step back for a little and regain perspective of yourself and stop losing control damnit. Ground yourself.

I really wish you gave more details.

Important question: is your life getting disorganized? Is your house more and more resembling a landfill for instance? Are you increasingly failing at social (friends, spouse) and societal (work, school) obligations? Is personal hygiene slipping through your fingers? Is your wake/sleep cycle spinning out of control?

If these kinds of things accompany your mindfuck, then actual madness may be involved. Getting increasingly disorganized is a sign of several mental illnesses.

Do you smoke pot semi-daily? If so, thats probably your culprit right there.

What kind of drugs do you do and how often?

My guess his madness ensues by psychedelics and the thoughts/over analyzing that can stem from it are becoming somewhat delusional and very hard to understand.

any help would be great though #1

My house has resembled a landfill for years and I often go a week or more without a shower. Ive failed at meeting up to nearly every obligation I had this week. Wake/sleep cycle is definably VERY out of control.

Drug use is sporadic and as unplanned as everything else. Id say they are more like a symptom than a cause.

I do some really fucked up things and only in retrospect do I realize how fucked up they were. I wish I could just keep it together like most people seem to without flipping out.

OK if this is getting worse and not a steady state, then I must advise you to get help, this may be more than mere mindfuck.

What works like a charm for me is 2mg Haloperidol (Haldol)
At that dosage level there are no nasty side effects for me, I take it a few hours before bedtime and most of the time it puts me right to bed.

What it does is decrease the rapidity and intensity of thought. Your thoughts and mental processes become calmer throughout the day and you become less impulsive. For my mental situation its nectar of the Gods, I'm a very intelligent introvert with enormous mental drive - Haldol gives me peace of mind and tranquility on a fundamental level. This for me at this dose without oversedation or nasty side effects.

Your needs may well be different, but it sounds like something you can benefit from.

Its a tide me over until old age calms me down. If I die before I get old, hey, at least I've known peace.

Things have gotten much worse. I cant even go into public places unless Im drunk. I have not washed my hair in over a week. I have strange mannerisms that seem to alienate people, weird hand gestures and that sort of thing.

I sincerely try to keep it together and be normal.

Psychedelic trips always make you feel better about yourself afterwords.

The term setting applies to the trip itself, not the after-effects. Even if you have a bad trip, you will feel better after you're done. I don't think that would be disrespecting the mushroom, if anything, that would be disrespecting yourself.
