Happy Easter everyone, I'll admit I'm not the most devout of Catholics but anytime there's an excuse to prepare good food for loved ones I'm always excited.
I'm doing a deboned leg of organic free-range VA lamb marinating right now in my fridge in a basic garlic/herb mix and olive oil (Armando Manni for those of you in the know. A little over the top, but since the leg cost me $80 I'm not skimping on anything now. Plus I have an entire case of the stuff that I'm slowly whittling away)
Dauphinoise potato, glazed carrots and homemade sourdough bread for sopping up the herbed lamb jus simmering away as I type this.
And for dessert? Milky bong hits from my black label Roor sista.
Sante!

Armando Manni is only available through their website Manni.biz and there is a minimum order that needs to be able to fill one case; and I must say their customer service is impeccable, after ordering you get a call from Armando Manni himself! Everything from packaging to the design and engineering of the bottle is done to preserve the freshness and nutritional quality of the oil. It literally tastes like oil that's come right from the press, very grassy and pungent like most Tuscan oil but without the harsh finish.
Some of the most famous restaurants in the world use Armando Manni, including the French Laundry. I was lucky enough to snag a bottle of his limited production white truffle oil during the holiday season, and it is by far the best truffle oil I've ever tasted. It comes in an engraved bottle similar to a perfume bottle complete with a cork stopper and pointed glass tube used to apply it directly to food.
Needless to say it is quite expensive, but well worth it. I once brought a bottle to a nice restaurant to drizzle over grilled fish and I guess the waitress noticed and asked about it. Moments later the chef came out to try it and inquire about its procurement.

I pooled 2 cases with a couple of friends so in fact I didn't pay full price. I also went to a couple of restaurants where I knew the chefs and some of them pitched in for a box (which is two bottles) as well. Spread the cost around, it then seems very reasonable. (unless you want to hoard it, like I'm doing)
You won't be disappointed.
