One of my best friends is a master mason. I went to a spaghetti dinner at his lodge with him about 4 months ago. If they are plotting to dominate the world they're good at hiding it because aside from the ritual secrecy (which is really an open secret now anyways, I was invited in to the main hall and the part where they have the alter and all the stuff for ceremonies. It's a religion in and of itself, but it's not dominating the world. The average ago of a mason in ohio is 67 I think... They're actually a bit desperate for new members (since they're all dieing off) and I was even invited to petition for membership, sort of like asking me to ask to join since they can't oficially invite people, they have to do it that way, a bit odd is all. I declined to petition for membership. It's a nice brotherhood but I could not join with a good concience since I viewit as a false religion. It's not my cup of tea.

Snicker.
I know some freemasons.
Remember the Simpson's episode about the Stonecutters? That pretty much sums it right up, except for the part about secret conspiracies... but when they all got together to drink beer, that's exactly what it was like.

Actually I watched a special about the Freemasons on The History Channel, and they said that like 95%(or round abouts) of Freemasons are just regular people, and have no idea about the sub-secret society inside the Mason's, that actually have massive power.
I forget what that group is called, but supposedly it's comprised of some of the most rich and powerful people in the world, and they get together every once and a while and discuss important(most likely) things. The guy who was interviewed by the History Channel said that he doubts very much that some of the most powerful people get together and play peanuckle(sp?).

"are taking over the world."
Not if the Mormons beat them to it. Or maybe they're affliates? Mormon temple rites are patterned after Masonic rites, after all.

I've always wanted to be a Freemason. If there is a secret plot for world domination, I want to be in on it.

That group Learyfan is probably the Bilderberg (or Bilderberger??) Group. Named for the resort hotel in some European country they meet in the group's members include everyone from top scientists and psychologists to politicians and members of the press, all of which could be masons.

I watched that history channel special, it was called "secret Societys" and it was pretty good.
I know a lot of freemasons from when I lived in Texas and Georgia, I met them working in the Union hall with other butchers. One thing about them all was that they were stand up kinda guys, they were all tough, all had been in the military, all were nice people... I dont believe that their is any secret society now, theyremore like the Shriners, which you have to be a freemason before you can be a shriner and they do have ALOT of influence but they dont controll much of anything any more...
Its not like it was more than 100 years ago when the freemasons owned and operated everything.

No, actually the membership process is straight forward. You nust believe in 'god' and have three character witnesses. The guy that runs the lodge talked to me for about 20 minutes and he told me that about the only people rejected are bartenders because they don't want people that serve alcholol as members and people with recent criminal history. My buddy that's a member hinted that they have a cop member that runs the backround check on people. I have no record and I could list plenty of character witnesses. The reason I declined to petition for membership is due to the nature of the membership initiation. The joining member makes the statement that he's in the dark and seeks to come in to the light. I believe as Jesus proclaimed that believers are the light of the world and making such a statement would be denying Christ which I would rater die than do. Most members say they're christians and born again however, that being masons makes them better christians. If it wasen't for that statment and the oaths they take I'de be in.

If you really want to be a mason why don't you just find a local lodge and petition for membership. The average age of mason's in my stayte is 67, by friend is among the youngest members and he's 27. It's nice and the people are nice. But I think a couple things about it are extremely negative, as I mentioned in the preceding post.

I know Jesus said HE is the light of the world, and I don't think there's anything in there that says believers are also the light. The most you can hope to be is a mirror.
Regarding straight belief in him, he said this..."Not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord' will enter the kindom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." Matthew 7:21
Just because you know who the Lord is doesn't mean your not in the dark. Even Satan and his demons know who the Lord is.

You're right, and I phrased what I meant improperly. I meant that if a believer is in Christ he's in the light of the world. By proclaiming to be in the dark and wanting to come in to the light the initiate is in effect denying being in Christ and denying Christ, somtihng which I'm not willing to do under any circumstances.
