No signs on casing?
    #1014578 - 11/02/02 12:30 AM (14 years, 1 month ago)

Hello,
we join our character on a casing adventure! Last night the character cased his/her 100% AC colonized poo with 100% verm. 24 hours later, no spots had broken through our characters 1" casing. In the book it was sitting at a constant 85F. The poo colonized like wildfire, so our character was wondering if it was normal that no spots had broken through the verm after 24 hrs?
Thanks.
Should dashes of lime be added to verm?

No need for lime. After you break up cakes in order to case them, they need a recovery period. Wait at least a week before you even start to have a second thought.

Thanks ski. The character in my book has found many of your posts to be of interest. Just watch Serial Experiments Lain. Is Lime ok?

I don't think when using straight verm lime is needed because verm isn't acidic. I mean I could be way wrong here, but usually lime is used in 50/50 casings to counteract the acidic nature of Peat, but if I am wrong please correct me.

Your on the mark as far as I'm concerned

However Mycelium does secrete acids which will lower the ph of a casing.  So although a verm casing starts of neutral it will eventually become slightly more acidic

But if we really want to get technical the optium ph varies between species - So i say stick with what Skid said.

What a terrible thing to lay on somebody with a head full of acid
