store-bought cow manure

Did a poo tek two weeks ago using a small bag of cow manure I bought. Spawned with a hawaiian pes cake. Added a small amount of verm to keep it airy. Covered in foil, kept in warm place. After a week it was about 70% colonized. Now another week has gone by, and it's still only 70%. No contams.

I'm wondering if any of these are the prob: not enough moisture in poo, fungicide or other chemical in poo, too clumpy i.e. mini-dirtbombs uncolonized, low spawn-to-poo ratio i.e. 1:10 instead of 1:5, or I should just shut the fuck up and be more patient.

Well the last 10-15% is always slow, but if I were to guess what problem you are having its the substrate is too dry. What kind of cow manure did you buy? Black Kow sucks.

Hey dude. Hoffman Cow Manure 1-1-1. You may be right on the it being dry. After the first week, there was heavy condensation under the foil, but a few days later, none. Very slight pullback from container sides. I was afraid of damaging the mycellium, so I didn't mist, but took the foil off and placed the container in tupperware with perlite, no light.

If you think its too dry try misting it, I mean its not like you have all that much too lose on the current track, considering it will just dry out if you do nothing.

Yup, Just mao give it MANY light mistings. Don't overcompensate or what you don't have to lose will be lost.If it was fungicide you sure wouldn't have gotten 70% colonization.
