Cut out the green mist the cobweb, paranoid...
    #1013577 - 11/01/02 04:52 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

so i peeked in on my caseing today, and i think it may have had cobweb... ive never had it before so i dunno.. it was on top of the caseing (the caseing is coir+verm, and is pinning nicely already) it was wispy... cant really tell if it was grey or white.... and had a bit of discoloration to it... it looked sorta greenish... i hit it with a burst of h20+h202 it totally dissappered when the water hit it....
then i noticed a patch of greenish-blueish color... at this point i cant tell if its green or blue.. its sorta inbetween...
so my question is,
if it does turn out to be green, how do i cut it out to save the rest of the caseing.. its pinning wonderfully.. and i dont want to chuck it.... (its my 1st caseing)
and is cobweb dangerous? or can i eat fruit from a cobweb contaminated cake?

thanks again!

[hyp]

PS i would have put this in the contamination forum, but i noticed i get much better answers here... noone ever checks the damn contam forum :P

Well, IF it turns out to be green, all you can do is cut it out, but be careful not to drop any chunks on the non contaminated part.

Might be OK still, sometimes the mycelium looks a little 'funny' in places

If its green, you probably just want to throw it out. Its sooooo hard to save a casing from the green. Cobweb is a different story.
