so after a few months use anyone remove all there perlite and dry and bake it to sterilize?????

not trying to hijack but there's what look like brown deposits of something near a bunch of the holes in my shotgun. Just wondering what it could be?

After a few months, it's a good idea to rinse or boil the perlite well, and then bake in the oven for a few hours to dry and remove all the crap that's fallen on it.

you don have to, I asked this question before on here, Most replies said nothing can live in Perlite because it has no nutrients. But I don't see the harm in actually washing it out with antibacterial soap or spreading it in a cookie sheet thats in the oven at 350 degrees or highr for 20 minutes

My question is - how do you separate the perlite from all the little pieces of vermiculite and other bits of crap that are in there?

Dump it all out on your kitchen floor and go through it all with a pair of tweezers, picking all the crap off. Make sure you don't miss any!
