substrate shelf life

Geraly how long can mixed uninoculated PF jars sit without starting to grow all kinda funk, serilized and not?

It depends if the lids have holes. I've had jars a month before I inoculated them, but those had no holes. I also lost about half of them to contams. If the jars have holes, I'm guessing a week, but I've never done it so I can't tell you for sure.

Well, if they are completely sterilized and covered.. essentially forever. But I would suggest just using them within a few days. It's better to waste substrate then a good syringe.. in my opionion.

I have some old PF style jars that are STILL sitting under my buddies house. . .they were fine last time I checked them. . . .4 holes in the top and a foil lid. . ..funny thing is . . .I havent made a PF style jar in. . . um. . .. . gosh. . . over 2 1/2 years
