Similar style here - my bins are bigger with clear lids. My babies grow right up to the top and open against the lid (which is covered with condensation) all the time. They are just as healthy and the caps just as pretty as their shorter siblings who haven't touched the top. Also, when working with a robust flush, I sometimes replace the lid with saran wrap, loosely secured, as described above. I use more Lysol when I remove lids, but it allows the babies to push the "lid" (Glad wrap) up and grow taller. This method has worked well for me, with no drawbacks so far....

So anyone else tried this method yet? I have a cake that'll be done colonizing in few days, and planning on using this method.
So I'll go over the procedure, please correct or suggest anything i've missed.
1. Wash the bin, pc the casing materials.
2. Crumble the cakes in a ziploc, spread them nicely inside the bin, with 50/50 just enough to cover the cakes.
3. Cover with a saran wrap, lose enough for the shrooms to push it open, but tight enough to maintain humidity. Leave some room for air btw casing layer and the wrap.
4. No incubator will be used, since crabbyass said it'll show growth in 24hrs(?) due to the thin casing layer. And no spraying until pinning(?)
5. Just the leave the casing in a lighted room, a terrarium is also not neccessary (?) Once the shrooms lift the wrap, spray water twice a day until flush. Harvest.
Did I get everything? Thanks for the replies.

a friend of mine tried this..he said he cased it 2 weeks ago (using the shower cap saran wrap thingies), with no incubation as suggested..he also did some light misting throughout when the casing looked dry..he said now after two weeks he is seeing the first pins..he thinks incubation after casing for a few days would prolly let the myc grow back together quicker, and speed things up a bit..i'll letcha know how long they take to fruit using this method when he emails me again..peace..

Wow this is f'n amazing! It looks like Moe Howard has some competition for 'laziest, most creative, piece of shit' award! I will now convert my current casing to this method, 5 shroomz!

Oh yeah and another thing. Do I have to respray the plastic wrap daily or just until I start seeing some growth?
EDIT: Re-read everything and have found the answer.

yeah..this method is essentially a small scale version of mycofile's "bulk neglegt" write up -> http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Growlog&Number=609532&page=&view=&sb=&o=&fpart=1&vc=1 ..i'll see if i can get my friend to spawn poo in 15 qt. dishpans, and cover with the larger saran wrap "shower caps" (i think they make em?)..see how that goes..although this would essentially be the same as the bulk neglect method metioned above, it would allow the smaller containers to be incubated first to theoretically speed up colonization and therefore overall growing times..i'll letcha' know what he sayz..peace..
