Yikes.

My oysters did the same thing inside. They don't tolerate CO2 buildup at all. You should try taking them out of the terrarium.... Or even put the block outside to fruit.

Corel-like fruiting == too much CO2!

I've found with oysters that they like some decent airflow....standing air in an enclosed space supplemented by a small pump caused mine to corel fruit.

Yeah, coral-type fruiting isn't desirable. Oysters should be more cap than stem.

What they said.
I've seen this in bags that didn't have enough holes poked in them also.

Corel-like growth can also be a sign of other less-than-perfect growing conditions, or genetic problems (poor strain selection, or a culture that's gone through too many generations).

They're looking a bit too corel-like...sorry.

With respect to air flow.....do bear in mind that Stamets' recommends 5-7 air exchanges and hour....keeping something in still air doesn't achieve that. Also, this strain requires pretty low CO2 levels....I've never worked with a pod, so I'm wondering if the pod really does adequate air exchange?

These insane pictures were taken 10 minutes ago.

The arrow points to the base of the original fruit. The large fruit grew out of the end of the smaller fruit.

I have a high output air pump connected to my Pod now. The substrate sat in my incubator for a month or so before fruiting. It wasn't untill I turned the water pump and the air pump off that it began to fruit. Thanks for the pointers everyone!

Last fall my Oyster bag got nasty with mildew. I placed the bag on my garden bed hoping it might fruit. Nothing occured over the Winter. A month or two ago I noticed the bag was in poor condition. It had algea growing on it and was generally in preety poor condition. I removed the substrate from the bag and placed it 2/3 submerged in horse manure compost in my garden. No water no nothing. I removed it from the soil on Friday (5/31) and soaked it overnight in hose water in a bucket and placed the drained bucket w/ substrate in my shed untill I could bury it properly.

Here's what it looks like today! This is an astounding recovery from my experience. It felt like styrofoam it was so dehydrated on Friday...and now it's fruiting...cool!
