Life cycle....
    #10113380 - 04/05/09 10:06 PM (15 years, 9 months ago)

How does the mycelium turn into individual fruits? Is there two different kinds of Myc that need to "mate" to produce a fruit?

I guess is what Im trying too understand is, why is it that some cakes/bulks can produce fruit the whole surface, and others just fruit in spots or clusters?

Would this be the difference between multi-spore strain and an isolated strain?

I hope you guys can understand what I am trying to ask, I am ripped  :ganja:  out of my mind lol.

When light hits the mycelium it triggers it to grow, and puts it into fruiting mode
ok um... i think i got what your saying, it Deps on the Strain i think im not 100% sure.
liek some Mushies grow in Clusters and some individually.
it has alot to do with Environment and substrate

Mycelium is composed of single cell strangs called "hyphal strands".

During fruit mode this hypae combine together to start forming the fruit body.

Forming the fruits has nothing to do with mating between spores. The reason you get clusters is because that region of the substrate probably has easier access to nutrients, and thus the fruit bodies can more easily be formed.

I know what your trying to say, and ive been wondering the same thing.
What causes the mycelium on a cellular level turn its self to fruit?

The whole life cycle from spore to mycelium to fruit fascinates me. I am so excited to witness it happen.

I cant wait for my first grow. Spores and jars are ordered, and i found some verm.

I am so excited to witness it happen.
Gah Im such a nerd!

Get a microscope, if you're really interested in the life-cycle.

It's worth it, so many uses. Everything is beautiful under a microscope.
