My First FC
    #10112783 - 04/05/09 08:21 PM (15 years, 9 months ago)

Here is my first FC. I have a large tote filled with water and a plastic box with holes in it, with a mister underneath the box with holes. I still have yet to drill holes in it, i may just fan it out.

Temp: 76F
Humidity: 96%

Should i turn the mister off at certain times of the day? I wonder how long the humidity will stay high...

one problem with your FC. How do you get fresh air exchange?

I've read that standing water is a sure source for contams. Evidently a bed of moist perlite is the way to go. Supposedly a 'shotgun FC' is the best FC you use for cubes. Mist with peroxide/water and fan at least 3 time per day.

That's what I plan to do very soon.

Flame on guys if what I say is incorrect. I noticed that most guys here have FCs with decent size holes stuffed with polyfill, vents, etc...

Change the water often if that's all you've got to work with. RR's shotgun method or a Poor Man's Pod would work a bit better.

dont get discouraged. you will probably do just fine. you only have to worry about the water if it stays still longer than 3 weeks or so.

I have a small plastic tub to suck air in. through a hose to a bucket with water and a ultrasonic. and then another hose from the bucket to my fc, for nice misting and fanning. I've never done anything else and it works perfectly. the best of luck to you!
be sure to post pics in different stages.
