Perlite dust
    #1011203 - 10/31/02 07:23 PM (21 years, 4 months ago)

I read the FAQ. It says use 1.5" of perlite and 1/2" of water below that which I did. I rinsed the perlite once but the water is still cloudy with perlite dust which I can see at the bottom of the rubbermaid container. Is this a problem? if not Ill proceed and place the cake on top of an aluminum lid and fan twice a day and add more water twice a week to maintain 1/4 to 1/2 inch water.

Let it air out until all the dust settles.

Why are you putting perlite in a jar? Are you using a giant jar as your fruiting chamber?

I was gonna ask, but I didn't want to encourage responses that would probably start another flame throwing contest.

eer I meant container, but same principal. The dust has collected on the bottom and I see no harm in that anyhow, its like tiny bits of perlite

For the next time, you may want to go ahead and rinse your perlite in a strainer in the sink, this will take care of the dust problem. So how's it feel to almost succeed? Betcha you suprised a bunch of people, myself included, well I wish you luck.

I rinsed it in water and used a strainer to pour the water out, but I can still see more dust
