New grower and quite confused

Hey guys i'm new at cultivation by myself, but had experience with helping an old room mate. I first started by ordering a 6IB bag sterilized bulk substrate growing bag. I used all the techniques used for sterilization, and inoculated my bag with 20cc's. This is were i'm stuck. It's been over two weeks and now growth seems to be happening. I placed my bag in the bottom of a drawer with some light because i kept the drawer cracked to get air in. The temp normally was around 70 degrees. I've placed my bag next to a light so that the warmth ma speed the process. Right now it's at 80 degrees. I need to know if i need to keep the bag wraped up so that it's dark or will it be fine in the light?

80 degrees is too hot. Dark is probably better but I would venture a guess and say there isn't much of a difference.

Yea if you can wrap it up in something breathable fresh air exchange is always good. I'm pretty sure it don't need light while colonizing, I keep my jars in the dark while colonizing!
If they are exposed to light then it can initiate pinning before fully colonized...
You could of did a search to find this out. But since i need the posts I figured I would put you on the right track.

Dark or light, doesn't matter. 12 on/off is usually recommended, 70*F is fine, but try to keep it under 80 if you can.

how long would you guess it would take to colonize a 6Ib bag. Would it have been better to break it down into jars and the inoculated it? My plan is to make a casing I've already got the casing mix and have built my grow chamber (tub in tub) I'm just waiting on it to colonize. Also I plan to use a humidifier, but would perlite work better?

Light doesn't become a pinning trigger until 100% colonization occurs, so it is okay to keep it in normal lighting conditions from day one.

Hey good news increasing the temp and leaving the bag in the dark has resulted in thaw start of colonization

For you future reference, temp might have been a factor but leaving it in the dark makes absolutely no difference. Trust me, I know what I am talking about here. Whoever tells you that you need to colonize in the dark does not know what they are talking about. This myth is decades old and it has been proven to be untrue.

Its ironic that the failed strain was called "phucket".
