Cobweb..

I am fruiting 10 cakes right now In a shotgun FC. I crumbled and cased 2 other cakes w/ 50/50, 2 cakes made 3 "casings" with personal sized lasagna trays. All my cakes and 2 casing or doing well, starting it show tiny little pins. My 3rd casing, however has grown some cobweb. I was rather impressed on how fast it grew..
Did some research, lightly mists with h2o2, removed the renaming cobweb. Today there was some cobweb growth, but on a very little amount. Misted with h2o/h2o2 today. The majority of the casing is doing great. It just this on little corner.
Ive kept this casing separate from the others, They were recolonizing after the crumble, with foil lids. When I noticed the cobweb, I separated all of the casings and are watching them closely, But like I said the other 2 are doing very well.
What should I do about my casing?? Should I just keep it separate and fruit anyway? Should I toss it?

Just as long as you keep the peroxide on a down low, you'll be good to go. Remember, hydrogen peroxide is harmful to all known members of the fungus family, even psilocybin mycelium. It's very important to dilute any peroxide content higher than 3%, 2 small cap loads in a sprayer should do the trick. For now, physically remove the cobweb and continue to lightly spray areas where the cobweb resided. Good luck

Firstly, you shouldn't crumble & case cakes anyway. It's just a huge waste of nutrients... you'd get better results by fruiting them as cakes.
If you want more yields from your cakes you should spawn them to a bulk substrate instead, and then fruit uncased.
Anyway, keep the contaminated substrate isolated, and see if you can keep the cobweb away. You should be able to at least get one flush from it. If the cobweb persists then just toss it away.

Dead where do you come off saying crumbling and casing is a waste of Nutes? how is it a waste of Nutes? if you crumble&case cakes your not wasting Nutes. your providing more surface area for the substrate to fruit from. your not wasting any nutrients at all.

No offense but you don't know what you're talking about.
Surface area doesn't matter. What matters is that by crumbling your cake, you force the mycelium to repair itself, for which it uses up nutrients that could have been used for fruiting. Thus when you are not adding any nutrients (like in spawning to bulk) to the mix, you are effectively just wasting the nutrients.

But when you crumble and case more then one cake your adding to the substrate, thus adding more nutrients, and yes surface area can be a factor, more surface area= more area for knot and pin production. im not trying to argue with you or be a bastard i just dont understand how you say its a waste.

I just explained how.
How are you adding to the substrate? The amount of cakes doesn't matter. If you crumble 6 cakes, you still have 6 crumbled cakes, they don't magically multiply into 12 cakes. The same amount of substrate.
Then, because you crumbled these cakes, the mycelium is all in pieces, naturally. Then the mycelium needs to repair the mycelial network so it can function as a single organism. This it must do before it can begin fruiting.
And this process, of repairing the damages you did to your cakes, expends nutrients. It's a law of nature: all work requires energy.
Thus, these nutrients that could have been used for fruiting, instead end up being wasted for repairing damages you inflicted on your cakes. It's very simple when you think about it.
Surface area doesn't matter a bit. A substrate will keep fruiting as long as it has moisture and nutrients. You won't get any more yields from the substrate just because you spread it thinner.
Now, if, when you're crumbling the cakes, you would use the crumbled cakes as spawn and spawn them to a bulk substrate, then you would be adding more substrate to the mix, and increasing the amount of nutrients. This would make a lot more sense than simply wasting the nutrients that you have.

To my knowledge, the main downfall of breaking up BRF cakes and placing them in a casing is the intensive damage the mycelium took in result of the crumbling. It would take a longer time for the mycelium to attach itself together. There's information about this present on the site, you can look it up if you want.

i think you misunderstood me, when i said adding to the substrate i meant liek, lets say you crumble 1 cake and then crumble 1 more, you just added nutes and created more substrate. instead of 1 you got 2. i dont mean to spread misinformation cuz i feel like a complete ass when im wrong. but i dont do it alot =D and yes spawn is completely different. i know how spawn works. well thank you for helping me learn more. i learn new thing every day in this hobby and i will be sure to spread the good word. i try not to spread falso info. thanks dead.

day 3, still have reacquiring cobweb..it is making me sad.. Because out of all the casing that is the one that has the best "spread" of myc. Today I completely removed all the way down to the bottom the the verm layer..
Should I fill anything in that gap? or just leave the battle wound?
