Well guys, i have the age old question: I have 18 gallon monotubs between 90 and 95 percent colonized. Will not casing them affect the end result?

Ive been contemplating the same question.
From what Iv been reading, uncased gives you larger fruits in weight and less in numbers, and casing gives you about the same weight overall w/ more fruits.
I guess it comes down too preference. Those are my pennies, Im sure a TC will be more helpful.

i've seen a thread on here where a guy did two identical monotubs except one was cased and one wasn't and he got almost the exact same yield by weight, but even tubs prepared by the exact same process can have very different yields because there's so many uncontrollable variables involved, so those results might have just been random chance. a very large scale test would be required to get a more accurate conclusion. other than that i haven't seen any evidence about if a casing layer helps, hurts, or doesn't matter. try the search function

If this is your first time I'd suggest you go uncased. The end result between the two is negligible. And it takes experience to effectively use a casing to it's fullest. Go uncased this round, and then case for personal experience down the road.
Good luck.

Thanks guys I appreciate the input. I took the plastic off of all of my tubs and as a wierd coincidence, my furnace went out this morning so the temp dropped in my house to about 65 (from 75)lol. Perfect timing I'd say. (ill get it fixed on monday)
