Syringe Re-Usage?

I read somewhere that if you have a syringe that you just emptied, you can suck up some boiling distilled water up in that syringe and re-use it. I Just did this and can see the spores floating all around. Not as thick as before but still there are alot throughout the syringe. I am new and was just wondering if this syringe, i just did this with will work to knock up some other jars. Thanks guys!

If you just filled your syringe with boiling water then no. Those spores are dead, sorry.
If you sterilized the distilled water, waited for it to cool, then filled your syringe with that, then possibly (wait for a more experienced member).

Boiling water will probably kill whatever spores were remaining in the syringe. Odds of contamination are pretty high, even if it didn't.

I wonder if the boiling water killed the spores. I assume it would considering your intent was to sterilize the syringe.

If done correctly, would this work? I'm curious now.

It would be better to pressure cook the syringes. Boiling will work though. I'd recommend rinsing with bleach water or mild detergent solution to help loosen up and clean any old spores. Rinse a few times with boiling water. Finally, draw up clean sterilized water, flame needle, and replace cap. Presto...you're syringe is clean and ready to re-use. Recycling...it's a good thing.
*Properly sterilized syringes can be re-used effectively. Trying to extend your spores by just refilling the syringe with water will only super-dilute whatever spore remnants are left in the syringe, making it less effective and subject to higher contamination risk. It would be better to start off by preparing the syringe with a whole new print.

Yes you can do that, but not with boiling water. I have done it successfully with a liquid culture. I prepared and sterilised an LC and once it was cool sucked up some lc int o the syringe, gave it a shake and injected it back into the LC . Gave me a nice viable LC that i grew some cakes from.
If you sucked up boiling water that was stil hot, then no its not a good idea.

ok either im confused or most of these people are(probably me) but if you want to reuse it with a new spore print, then yes, ive used some of mine about five times now. just boil water>suck it up>spit it out>repeat several times untill you see no more spores>suck up fresh boiling water and cap> now your ready to make a new syringe.

meh if u suck up boiling water 3-4 times b4 sucking up a new lc it seems to work as lc is prob as not sticky as spores. the downside is the seal between the needle n syringe will start to fuck up n leak water. i usually woulnt switch lcs with the same needle just to prevent cross contam if shit does go wrong but as long as its in a pretty timely fashion it seems to work fine.

Re-using a syringe...like re-using a catheter. Either way its cheap an filthy, I kid but damn that's a crappy commercial.

Does anyone know if freezing your syringe kills spores?

here's my method almost foolproof for re-sterilization cheap way. 1. suck up isopropal rubbing alcohol and expunge several times fill again and let it sit for 5-10mins. kills all kinds of shit. 2. expunge 5-7 times with boiling purified water as remove all alcohol(ALCOHOL EVAPORATES UNDER HEAT VERY EASILY). 3. I taste the water that comes out to make sure that all alcohol is out beleive me you can tell the difference hot water should got rid of alocohol completely. 4. refill with purified water place in a bowl or something with water in it and put in microwave 3 mins. tada sterilized syringes no contams. 5. my microwave never sparks needle if its under water.
good luck
