Choice of Vermiculite

My friend just dunked his cakes!
He has two types of vermiculite, the normal sized grains that everyone seems to use, and an even smaller rice-size grained vermiculite.
For rolling, would there be any benefit to using one type of vermiculite over the other?
We're thinking that the smaller type would be best as it should hold slightly more water. Does that sound right?

No, there really isn't any benefit to using either size verm.

sure there is, the smaller verm covers the cake better, and sticks better as well

I didn't find that to be a factor. I guess that's because I can only get the fine stuff.

i really like having both
the medium and coarse grade seem to me to work much better for the substrate as it doesnt compact like the fine grade

just make sure for the first day or so, you mist frequently to hydrate the freshly rolled verm. if it or the cake dries b4 the mycelium starts grabbing that verm, it will fall off and youll have a mess in your FC
