stalled coir/verm/coffee (pics)
    #10100225 - 04/03/09 12:44 PM (15 years, 9 months ago)

So around a week ago, I had a spent cambo cake in my FC that I wanted to make use of. I spawned it to coir/verm/coffee at about a 1:5 ratio. Its been 7 or 8 days since I mixed it up, and the growth seems to have stalled. The substrate is about an inch deep, and its been covered with foil, sitting in my closet since made it. Since I eye-balled the amount of verm and water in the mix, the water content was a little low. It wasnt quite at field capacity, as I had to squeeze a little harder than usual to see water droplets. Two days ago, it seemed kind of dry, so I misted it, and it didnt do much.

Any and all help would be appreciated! Thanks.

(The flash from my camera makes it look a little brighter than it actually is)

I wouldnt expect aggressive growth from a spent cake.

I dont know if his bulk sub was done colonizing when it stalled (it looks like it), but if its a semi solid block, he could dunk it to rehydrate, no?

how can it stall if its fully colonized? I think the picture makes it look a lot whiter than it actually is.

How far along is it colonized? Its hard to tell from the pic.

Its not fully done colonizing. Its not yet solid, so if I dunk it, I would end up with a bunch of mush. Ill post a pic without the flash in a moment.

Alright... I lied. My camera has decided to be a piece of shit, and wont load pictures onto my computer, even though it worked a minute ago.

Its colonized maybe 75%. All of the chunks of substrate are shaded white, but the brown of the coir is still clearly visible, and theyve yet to connect into one solid block. I know pools of water usually mean garunteed contams, but could I mist it heavily for a day or two to get the water content up? Whats the S.O.P. for stalled coir/verm/coffee?
