No vermiculite
    #10097265 - 04/02/09 09:02 PM (15 years, 9 months ago)

I have no way of getting vermiculite  in my area other than ordering it. How important is it to have verm. on the cake after the dunk. Should I be ok without it?

It's important to use vermiculite if you're doing the PF tek. I would either order some online, or forget about the PF tek and try another grain like rye or WBS. You're sure no garden supply or nursery has any verm?

i assume youve check everywhere for it
if so try instead of using the brf/vern tek
try finding rye berries/grain(both are the same) at natural food stores
if unavailable try using another type of grain, pretty much any kind of grain works well, you can also use millet. wild bird seed is another option but from my experience i dont like to use it because its just so much work to prep it and then drying it takes forever.

if you already have brf/verm cakes already made and are out of verm
and they are already colonized 100% than what i would suggest is to try doing a bulk grow by mixing your cake with 3 times as much bulk substrate. for example horse poop or what im trying is a coir bulk substrate. i am using this tek to prepare the coir BULK substrate. remember bulk substrates are not meant to be inoculated only spawned to.

Nurseries stock it.  I checked your IP to see the city and state where you live, and I know for a fact you can get it.  Just look harder.

dang. lolz. but yeah you should be able to find it all over the place this time of year from walmart to your local hardware store. it is not necessary to dunk and roll in verm after birth, though it will improve your grow, but it IS necessary if you are doing pf cakes.
