fruiting
    #10095812 - 04/02/09 05:02 PM (15 years, 9 months ago)

so i have a few questions. Well my PF jars have been going for alomsot two weeks now and some are pretty much done. but the thing is i dont have enough room in my fruiting chamber for all of them at once. So heres the questions.. how long does it take to fruit once i get them in the fruiting chamber and does dunking and rolling make a  big difference. and will it be alright for the other jars to sit  while the the others fruit..thank you

The time it takes to fruit depends on how long you left them in the incubator after they have been fully colonized.  If you take them out right away, then don't expect anything till 8-10 days.  But if you let the cakes sit in the jars for a week or so then birth them, they should pin within 3-5 days.

YES!!!  Dunking and rolling the cakes will greatly enhance the pin set and total harvest.  The vermiculite casing helps hold moisture and provides a reservoir for the shroomies to drink.

You can place any jars in the fridge that you don't want to birth right away.  This is called "cold shocking".  The mycelium will stop growing, and won't hurt anything.  Then when you are ready, take em out and fruit them. I hope this helps. PEACE!

Well said, couldn't have made it any clearer than that.

It doesn't necessarily have to be sterilized, as the fully colonized cakes are contam-resistant. But, RR says he bakes his verm in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes before using it for the roll, because it can't hurt. So ultimately it's up to you.

You could stack the cakes to make more room.
