Ook here we go, now i don't post .. at all, I just read, and Im doing damn good for a newbie, but basically I got 2 casings and 6 cakes going good its my first try first flush.. Ive harvested from ALL cakes and both casings...a couple of the cakes were on thier 2nd flush after dunking in the fridge and all that, and with the casings I just basicalaly pick as they grow, so i pretty much harvest from them everyday.. one seems to be slowing down but i still see pins coming.. the first part of my question is.. when the casings ever stop how exactly do i put them thru their 2nd flush? or since i just keeep picking and picking daily it actually is going thru flushes?
Sorry but i took this whole thing waaaay off track, (please still answer my first question too. but my main reason for posting is .. i have all this in 2 shotgot fc's in the same room i dry my mushies in with a pretty large fan but i try not to run it too long cuz it dropps the ph buuut i mesed up..... basically for about a day and a half i was sick and never went into the room..the fan was still going from drying mushies and it dropped the humidity pretty damn bad so the cakes pretty much have stopped fruiting all together and i see lots of dark and black aborts..casings still look ok still fruting, but dry some aborts on it and 1 or 2 very small blue/green areas in the but its still fruiting. btw casings smell good i really don't smell shit from the cakes anymore so..
do I just raise the humidity on the cakes pull the aborts and keep it going? throw em out? redunk em all?
My casings seem ok im ready to jus throw out the cakes they aren't producing as much anyway! lol (but for sum reason they have much thicker stems and bigger caps...
but what should i do folks? i messed up pretty bad by leaving that fan on that long in there

i've read aborts are stronger but hard to predict the amount needed to get jacked, so i wouldnt toss'em......i'm new but i lthink the 2nd flush started after you dunked the cakes.........if i'm right you fruit until theres almost no water left, dunk and that reintroduces the water allowing the shrooms to grow, i think their like 95%water.........do you wait for the veils to tear?

no no no, i know about the cakes being on thier 2nd flush.. i meant the casings and i used to wait for the veils to tear until i waited a little to long and spores were everywhere. caps were inverted, i personally didn't like that so now i try to catch em right b4 they tear or right after

yea i am not that experienced myself, but if the fungi is being constantly harvested it might not have the ability to have a second flush. i would suggest watining until the growth slows, then try any techniques you hear. dont risk your future crop :-$

Once the pins turn black, go ahead and pick them. I haven't seen a single one grow after turning black.
Especially with cakes, if you don't rehydrate you're going to get smaller fruits later on. If they aren't black, let them grow. If there aren't any aborts, I would just dunk them for 12 hours or so, and place back into the fruiting chamber. It will take a few days (1 week or so) after that to see pin heads forming again, but you should get larger mushrooms.
