Use perlite, its everywhere garden supplies are sold.  I use about 4-5 inches tho, with about 1/2 inch of water in the bottom.  More surface area to evaporate from.
FAE- fresh air exchange

Edit: ok no perlite, ive used verm before with success, but its messy as hell.  well.. more so than perlite.  Dunno about depth with it tho, youd probly need less.

no just a little square peice for each cake so it doesnt become water logged or contaminated by touching the verm.

fae is fresh air exchange

you would be much better off with perlite, verm is really messy

an inch of verm wont supply you with the needed humidity. FAE stands for fresh air exchange. Your fruiting chamber's air needs to be replaced with fresh air many many times a day. How do you plan on achieving that?

The tin foil would be used as little squares with a cake sitting on each one, but you do need to rethink the way you plan on delivering humidity.

Perlite has alot of surface area which water sticks to and if there are holes all around the fruiting chamber including the bottom air will pass trough the perlie creating humidity. Verm soaks up water. also you should use a lid or tin foil pads that the cake sits on so they aren't directly on the perlite to reduce the risk of contam. I would turn that chamber in the a Shotgun Fruiting Chamber

Don't invent your own terrarium on your first grow.  There's too many other variables you need to learn.  Build a shotgun terrarium, and that's one part you won't have to worry about.
