True, during I think two months out of the year the state rooms are open to the public.  You can pay to have a tour through the state rooms, and there is an art gallery that is always open which has changing exhibits.  This is where she lives so it is extremely limited.  Sans Monarch, the whole thing is open to us normal kin

No one inside the commonwealth really gives a crap about them either, but they're still a huge tourist attraction.

Hmm according to this article it wasn't just an iPod - Obama also gave the Queen a signed original Rogers songbook (for "The King and I"). Apparently she's a big Rogers and Hammerstein fan so this was a pretty good gift really. Better than what the Queen gave Obama anyway.

Who are you, Santa?  How the fuck do you know what's on Obama's wish-list?

If she's a big fan, perhaps she would prefer to actually have the physical album medium instead of something she could have had done for her by somebody they pay.

The pic of her and Phillip is wayyyy better than the ipod.

And I love how Mrs. :obama: hugged her, a huge faux pas, and the Europeans all noticed it.
Good job America for electing a first family with absolutely no class.

Wah wah wah, like there were better options or something.. You'd all be fucking flaming any president that was ever elected in this day and age, so why bother wasting your time and energy on this futile bullshit, when you could be ignoring it and enjoying other, more worthwhile bullshit.  Grow up.

How could you pay someone to make a signed songbook? "The King and I" was written in 1950. Rogers died 30 years ago. She's a queen, not a sorceress.

OMG - if this is the best criticism the right has on Obama's trip to Europe, I'll consider the trip a huge success.

The gift could be attacked by the right no matter what it was.  Any better suggestions for a gift?  I'll bet I can come up with a reason it sucks.  It's like how Obama was criticised for not visiting Normandy.  Yet if he would have gone, the right would have criticised him for visiting because he didn't serve in the military and because it could be disrespectful to our allies in Germany.

--------------------
I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.
